August 30th, we pedal a revolution! Bikers, cyclists, commuters, and striders will take to their wheels in solidarity with the Afghan women who dare to ride, and in remembrance of the women who dared to ride before and in doing so, paved the way for independent mobility and freedom for women around the world.
LIV has helped support the Afghan Women’s National Cycling Team through Colorado based Mountain2Mountain. Please read more about all the amazing stuff they're doing here: http://mountain2mountain.wordpress.com/2014/07/09/global-solidarity-ride-launches/. Please come join our community of cyclists to ride together in solidarity on the 30th. We will leave Giant Cycling World promptly at 8am (ready to ride!!) to ride a 35 mile loop. Route will begin riding north on the Platte towards Riverpoint, where we will then ride west towards Bear Creek Lake Park and refuel in Morrison. From Morrison, we will ride south on the 470 and back around to the Platte and to the shop. This will be a no-drop ride paced to finish around noon. I will describe this an intermediate level ride based on terrain and pace. Ride time factors in our re-fueling stop and some wiggle-room for mechanicals, sight-seeing and laughing. IE: Ride is laid back but pace will be around 13-15 mph. PLEASE bring your helmets, flat repair, rain jacket, snacks and HAPPY attitude! The bike path can be very congested on the weekend and we will be courteous and spreading good juju on our journey. Please contact Stephanie at the shop (303) 703-1700/stephaniej@giantcyclingworlddenver.com or through our meetup for any questions OR if you would like a map of the route.
