Girl Develop It Hackathon!

Details
Join GDI Boston and our awesome sponsor Audible at the Amazon Cambridge offices for our first Hackathon! Whether you’ve attended one of our classes, are new to tech, or are looking for ways to level up your skills, come join us for a day-long web hackathon. You’ll build a site, meet some new friends, and eat some delicious snacks!
What’s a hackathon and why should I do one?
Never attended a hackathon before...but always been a little curious? New to code? This is the hackathon for you!
Traditionally, a hackathon is an event in which programmers, graphic designers, content strategists, interface designers, project managers, subject matter experts and more collaborate intensively on projects for a dedicated amount of time, usually a full weekend.
Hackathons can be a great chance to network, learn new skills, and walk away with something to add to your resume!
What will we be doing?
Projects will be a front-end website incorporating the following components:
• HTML/CSS/Javascript
• Animations or image sliders
• Images
• Drop-down menus
• HTML5 banner using Javascript
• Responsiveness
• Accessibility
Participants will be required to present their final projects, store project code in their Github accounts, and commit to participating in the entire day.
Stumped for ideas? Not sure what all those technologies are? Join us for our Code and Coffee (https://www.meetup.com/Girl-Develop-It-Boston/events/234980950/) in October to get brainstorming – we’ll get you started!
Who should attend?
Newbies to the tech scene, career switchers, job hunters, tech lovers, designers, and anyone who wants to learn a few new tricks.
All participants agree to abide by the Girl Develop It Code of Conduct (https://www.girldevelopit.com/code-of-conduct).
Huge thanks to our sponsor, Audible!
