HTML/CSS Refresher Course
This one-time workshop is perfect if you have some experience with HTML & CSS but your skills need a refresh. This is not a class for absolute beginners - this is ideal for people who have completed our Intro to HTML/CSS course or have an equivalent understanding of the concepts. We’ll be condensing the major themes from our Intro to HTML/CSS class into a single session. By the end of the session, students should feel re-familiarized and comfortable with the following concepts: • Basic HTML & tags • Creating & linking to a style sheet • Selectors and attributes • Styling elements (e.g. borders, colors, fonts, etc.) • Classes & IDs • CSS Positioning (e.g. absolute, relative, fixed) • DIVs This class will also be very useful for people who are interested in taking our Intermediate HTML/CSS (Intro to Responsive) (https://www.meetup.com/Girl-Develop-It-Cincinnati/events/249952084/) course but need a refresher before delving deeper into front end development concepts. REQUIREMENTS: At this time, you will need to provide your own laptop - PC or Mac - to participate in the course. Please install the following prior to class: Download Sublime Text 3 (http://www.sublimetext.com/3) - the preferred text editor Also, as an alternative to Internet Explorer, please install either Chrome, Safari, or Firefox + Firebug: - Firefox browser - Firebug, a Firefox extension with a plethora of tools handy in web development INSTRUCTOR: Eric Boggs is a freelance web developer. He spends most of his time developing user interfaces and thinking about how people interact with websites. He is a Marine Corps veteran and is a co-founder of A Voice for the Innocent (http://www.avoicefortheinnocent.org/), a local non-profit supporting victims of sexual abuse. When he's not working, you can find him growing out his beard and hanging out with his dog. POLICIES & GUIDELINES: Girl Develop It welcomes all genders and identities to our classroom. By entering this group, all community members agree to abide by our Code of Conduct (http://girldevelopit.com/codeofconduct). At this time, you must be 18 years of age or older to enroll in a class. At least 5 students will need to enroll for this course for it to be hosted. If we have less than 5 students registered for the class as of three days prior to the class start date, we will cancel the class and reschedule for a later date. Any students registered at that time will be refunded their full registration fee. Girl Develop It is unable to offer refunds for cancelled registrations or no-shows. We only extend refunds if the class is cancelled by the GDI leaders and organizers due to low enrollment. If a class is rescheduled and you cannot make the rescheduled date, we will also extend a full refund of your registration fee.
