What we're about

Want to learn how to make webpages and mobile apps? Interested in learning a programming language? Have a great idea that software can solve? Don't be shy. Develop it! Girl Develop It (http://www.girldevelopit.com) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with over 50 chapters throughout the United States and Canada.

Girl Develop It was founded to provide a place where all questions are OK and every adult can learn in a supportive, respectful environment. Our classes focus on hands-on coding and having something to show for it (aka building sweet websites). A laptop with a modern browser is required for all coding classes.

While open and welcoming, today's developer community is up to 91% male. We understand that it can be intimidating for women to learn and ask questions when they are in an extreme minority. Our Code of Conduct (https://www.girldevelopit.com/code-of-conduct) helps us fulfill our mission of increasing tech literacy among women.

For more information, you can listen to Girl Develop It leaders talk about why what we're doing matters on this video (http://blog.meetup.com/girl-develop-it-meetup/). If you have a little experience coding or working as a developer and want to help others, consider joining our GDILV Slack team (https://gdilvslack.herokuapp.com/).

Grab your laptop and join us! And stay tuned to this Meetup for upcoming scheduled classes!
