Are you trying to break into the tech field or transition careers? Curious about what its like to work in different technical positions? Looking to hire members for your team? Join us for the five event GDI Careers speaker series “A Day in the Life” and learn more about important pieces of a tech team.

In our second event of the speaker series, hear from a panel of experienced ladies with different backgrounds and responsibilities about how they came to be a developer. They will highlight what their day-to-day responsibilities are like, what they enjoy about the work, and what advice they have for folks looking to enter the field.

A $5 donation toward the Girl Develop It scholarship fund is requested to confirm your attendance.

Some Of Our Panelists:

Elise Wei (http://www.twitter.com/Not_Pele) is an engineering director and front-end engineer at Monetate. Her specialties include HTML, JavaScript, and CSS, though she sometimes dabbles in server-side languages. She has worked with Girl Develop It since 2012, teaching and assisting in numerous classes. A mom, a crafter, and a musician, she also operates what her husband refers to as the 'gluten-free test kitchen' out of their home.

Cella Sum is a front-end developer based in Philadelphia and has been making websites since the late 90's. She enjoys the architecture side of front-end development, using tools and processes to help improve the developer's workflow and code quality. When she's not coding, she plays bass in all-women punk band, travels the world, and volunteers at Girl Develop it and Coded By Kids.

Alexandra Hoefinger (http://twitter.com/ahoefinger)is a former English teacher that has transitioned to a career in programming out of an interest in creating and building projects on the web. She took her first coding class with GDI Philly in Fall 2012, and a year later started as a front-end developer at Urban Outfitters, where she mainly works with Sass, AngularJS, and other JavaScript tools. She continues to participate in the GDI community as a teacher, TA, and student, and when she's not spending her time learning and hacking on web projects, Alexandra works on lots of handmade craft projects and blogs about them here (http://philodendron.co/)!

LeeAnn Kinney (http://www.twitter.com/_leekinney) is a front-end developer living in Philadelphia. She is a web accessibility advocate, events coordinator for Girl Develop It Philly and co-organizer of LadyHacks (http://ladyhacks.org/) and the Philly Women in Tech Summit (http://phillywomenintech.com/). In her free time LeeAnn loves to hike, bike and travel.

Yash Prabhu (http://www.twitter.com/yashvprabhu) is a Senior Software Engineer and Android Team Lead at DramaFever. She volunteers at Girl Develop It Philly as a mentor and teaching assistant and also runs study groups in Java. Yash has a Master's degree in Computer Science from University of Pennsylvania.
