Building Custom WordPress Websites
In this workshop, you will learn the fundamentals of WordPress development. After setting up a local server and development environment, we'll create the foundation for a custom WordPress website using a starter theme (because no one actually builds "from scratch" in the real world).
We will go over concepts like the Loop, the template hierarchy, and when to use custom post types and fields. You'll gain a vocabulary of responsible practices when customizing WordPress themes and not only be able to vet existing themes, but ready to implement your own designs and ideas in the WordPress ecosystem.
A solid foundation in HTML, CSS, and jQuery fundamentals. You should be familiar with programming concepts like variables, conditionals, and functions.
Students are required to bring their own laptop for classes. If you do not have a laptop, please contact us at [masked] before registering, and we’ll see if we can work something out.
If you are interested in attending, but cannot afford the full class cost, please fill out our
