Intro to Command Line Interface

This class is Saturday, October 29 from 1pm-5pm.

This class will teach the Command Line Interface and will be taught by Anastasia Lanz.

Command Line Interface

This class will introduce you to the Linux Command Line Interface.

This class will cover:

• Navigating and searching through files and directories

• Changing file permissions and file ownership

• Accessing another computer through SSH (Secure SHell)

• Input/Output Redirection

• Installing Programs


Prerequisites:

-Your own laptop running Mac OS, Windows, or Linux. (Note: A netbook or tablet is not a substitute. Download Git for Windows (https://git-for-windows.github.io/) if you're going to be on Windows. If you need to borrow a laptop, please contact us via the scholarship form [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe4FLEM2wCqZnWGYB1PA7WoN8pkdbHPGmnyGqV3jH9R8q7QTQ/viewform]) ;

-A modern browser with either Chrome and the "Web Developer" extension or Firefox and Firebug installed. -A text editor. We recommend Sublime Text 3 (It's free and available for both Mac and PC). (If you don't have a modern browser and text editor, it may take 20 minutes to install prior to class. Please come prepared.)

ABOUT THE TEACHER

Anastasia Lanz is a developer at Wall-to-Wall Studios where she develops sites for smart challenger brands. She also serves on the AIGA Pittsburgh executive board and more recently organizes the Pittsburgh CodePen Meetup. When she isn't staring at a screen, she likes to hang out with her pug, play soccer, and attempt to play ice hockey.
