Introduction to jQuery

The Introduction to jQuery class runs on Saturday, May 17th from 1-5pm.

Meet jQuery, a small, cross-browser JavaScript library that makes adding interactivity, animation, and manipulating the DOM on your website easier. In fact, you've probably already met, as jQuery is the world's most popular JS library and has been used on some of the world's most popular websites.

In this half-day workshop, you'll be getting to know it better. We'll cover the basics: traversing web pages to find and manipulate elements; creating and injecting elements; listening for events; creating animation and effects; and following good jQuery patterns. NOTE: Participants should have basic javascript knowledge as well as a working knowledge of HTML. CSS knowledge would also be helpful, but not required. Please email us at [masked] for any questions regarding this.

Your Teacher: Dan Lucas, Front-end Developer at Amplify.

Dan Lucas is a UI & Front-End developer based in Durham, NC with a background in multimedia design and information science. He is obsessed with the interactions between people and computers and strives to make those interactions easier and more useful. Dan has worked in education for most of his career and is excited about the opportunity to help even more people to become more tech saavy.

A text editor. We recommend Sublime Text 3 (It's free and available for both Mac, PC or Linux).

Very informative. A little fast in places, but ultimately very rewarding! Looking forward to working further with jQuery/javascript...
