Want to learn how to build your own website? Already have your own site and want to have more control over it? Interested in learning to program but want to start small?
If you answered yes to any of the questions above, this course is for you! This beginner course will guide you through the basics of HTML and CSS. By the end of the class, you will have developed a first version of your own website.
This is a two session class held on Saturday, December 1st from 11-2pm and Sunday, December 2nd from 12-4pm. The cost for the class covers both sessions.
PREREQUISITES & TECH REQUIREMENTS
• Your laptop. (Please note: A netbook or tablet is not a substitute.)
• A modern browser with either Chrome and the "Web Developer" extension or Firefox and Firebug installed.
• A text editor. We recommend Sublime Text 2 (It's free and available for both Mac and PC). (If you don't have a modern browser and text editor, it may take 20 minutes to install prior to class. Please come prepared.)
ABOUT THE TEACHER - Madeline Jimenez
After graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Madeline has balanced a career in graphic design and front-end web development. Having worked in fields, ranging from men’s luxury clothing to higher education, she has had the privilege of working within talented creative teams to design and develop digital marketing assets including responsive websites, graphic emails and digital ads. Madeline believes that design decisions should be well-informed by a knowledge of code, working in conjunction to provide the best user experience.
Currently Madeline is a graphic designer at 2u, a company that creates software for universities that provide online higher education. In her free-time she enjoys building static websites from scratch and going to the movies with her husband.

GDI does not offer refunds. If you need to cancel for any reason, your payment will go toward supporting our scholarship fund for students in financial need. If the class is rescheduled, moved to a different location, or canceled by GDI, all participants will be refunded.
No Drop-Ins Policy
For our classes, we have a 100% no drop-ins policy. Students that have not registered on Meetup before the class will not be accepted into the class.
