Computer Science Fundamentals

This course is for programmers who want to learn the fundamentals of computer science, algorithms and data structures.

Whether you just finished a bootcamp, have no background in algorithms, or it's been a long time since you've studied algorithms, by the end of the course you will come away will a set of tools to analyze and design algorithms.

These skills are used daily by programmers. The concepts are also often evaluated in technical white-boarding interviews, making this course a great interview prep for the spring interview season.

Topics covered:
• What is an algorithm?
• Time and space complexity
• Big O notation
• Searching and sorting
• Data structures

CS Prerequisites:
• Working knowledge of programming fundamentals, such as working with arrays, loops, and functions, is required. A GDI Intro to Programming class in any language is sufficient.

Math Prerequisites:
• Algebra - As we analyze algorithms, we’ll use algebra to simplify expressions.

Tech requirements:
• Your laptop (Mac, PC, Linux) and charger
• A modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari)
• All attendees are expected to abide by the Girl Develop It Code of Conduct (http://www.girldevelopit.com/codeofconduct).

Cost:
$68 for all three classes

Dates:
This three-part class runs on Wednesdays from May 9th-May 23rd. This Meetup page will act as your RSVP for all three classes. Session dates and lessons are:

Class 1:
Wednesday, May 9th, 6:00-8:00 PM

Class 2:
Wednesday, May 16th, 6:00-8:00 PM

Class 3:
Wednesday, May 23rd, 6:00-8:00 PM

Payment
Payment is required to attend. Once you arrive, go to the 2nd floor and follow signs for WeWork.

You are required to check in at the front desk so make sure you have your IDs ready. Once you check in, WeWork staff can show you to conference room H.

Parking info!
WeWork has parking right below the building and you can access it on Boren street. Entrance is shared with Hilton Garden's

The hourly rates are as follows:

0-30 Minutes $4

30-60 Minutes $6

1-2 Hours $8

2-3 Hours $11

WeWork does not validate parking so a cheaper alternative is U-parking on the other corner of Stewart/Boren just across the building.
