Speaker Bios

Sarah-Beth is the Technical Product Manager of the Analytics & Data Access portfolio at D2L. She has an English Rhetoric degree that she puts to use every day by advocating for market & client needs, communicating about the excellent work her development team is delivering, and translating technical concepts into stories about the problems clients are solving with the products she helps deliver. Her secret ingredient is empathy – for her team, for her clients, and for learners whose lives are impacted by the work that D2L does.

Sarah-Beth balances her work life with the life of being a mom, a wife, a daughter, an individual. She counts herself lucky to be part of an amazing local community and a huge village of family of friends who make life sweet. Part of the balance comes from modifying her work schedule to 32-hour weeks that allow her to fully invest in her career and her personal life. A year and a half into this experiment and she can’t picture being able to achieve what she has in her career, family and personal life any other way.

She aims to honour the user’s human condition in an effort to transcend human-to computer interactions to human-to-human interactions.

In her spare time, Melinda loves relaxing with her husband and baby, watching the food network and searching for the best almond milk latte.

Amber is one of the voices behind the Brightspace Tutorials YouTube channel (, where administrators, instructors, and learners can discover how to use the D2L products that power Brightspace solutions.
