Grit: The Power of Passion and Perserverance

Details
We'll be kicking off with our first book, Grit by Angela Duckworth. It's our first choice because it's about perseverance towards something you're passionate about—a theme that we hope will carry throughout all of our further reading and discussions. The author, Angela Duckworth, is a McArthur fellow, a scientist, an author, and a badass lady who we think is very inspiring. Read more about her badassery here (https://angeladuckworth.com/about-angela/).
Here's what people have to say about it:
At the University of Pennsylvania’s Duckworth Lab, grit is gender-neutral. It’s self-control and stick-to-it-iveness. The two big ideas about grit that have made Duckworth famous are first, that it predicts success more reliably than talent or I.Q.; and second, that anyone, man or woman, adult or child, can learn to be gritty. —New York Times Review
A thoughtful and engaging exploration of what predicts success. Grit takes on widespread misconceptions and predictors of what makes us strive harder and push further…Duckworth’s own story, wound throughout her research, ends up demonstrating her theory best; passion and perseverance make up grit.—Tory Burch, Chairman, CEO and Designer of Tory Burch
