GitHub Virtual Meetup : Africa [October 20th, 2020]

Details

GitHub is excited to host our second monthly Africa Meetup! This month we will be talking about how to get started contributing to open source, using actions and doing frontend development. Please join us on Tuesday, October 20th, from 3pm to 5pm WAT to 5pm WAT / 7am to 9am PDT.

Learn from experts at GitHub and in the local community about the latest GitHub workflows, newest features, and how to contribute to Open Source!

The event will be hosted by our very own Brian Douglas who is a GitHub developer advocate. In addition, Martins Ewere from our corporate sales team will be talking about what GitHub is doing to make software tools more accessible.

We are thrilled to be joined by some very special guests this month including:

  • Shodipo Ayomide, one of our GitHub Stars and a senior developer advocate, program manager, software engineer, and conference speaker. He’ll be talking about automating workflow processes using GitHub Actions.

  • Ruth Ikegah, a Python developer, tech writer, and open source enthusiast. She’ll be talking about how to get involved as a beginner in open source.

  • Shedrack Akintayo, a developer advocate at Cloud Foundry. He’ll be talking about documenting your open source projects.

  • Ikram Babs-Lawal, a frontend developer. She’ll be talking about a roadmap to frontend development.

At the end of the event, we will dedicate some time for discussions and networking. This is a great opportunity to connect with Hubbers and other people with common interests in the African developer community.

Please join the event on October 20th at https://www.youtube.com/github
