What we're about

Help to make a difference in our communities. Lend a hand to non-profit organizations in and around Philadelphia while meeting new people and sharing positive experiences that make this big world just a teenie bit better!

We have a "2 strikes" policy: if you are a no show 2 times, with no explanation to the event host afterwards, you will be removed from the group. And if you repeatedly cancel at the last minute, you will also be removed. Sorry to be so harsh, but it's not fair to anyone on the waiting list or to the organizations we are trying to help.

We also want active members in this group. Please be sure to visit our site at least 1 time per year. If you do not, we will assume you are no longer interested and you will be removed from the group.

Volunteer! Clothing Cupboard at Old First Church in Philadelphia

Be a part of this long-standing outreach opportunity~80 guests are served at Old First each Saturday. A hot breakfast is served and the guests are allowed to "shop" through the clothing items on display. The Cupboard functions as a "free store" and offers as much dignity and respect to the guests as possible. Volunteering includes working as a personal shopper with the guests as they peruse the clothing and toiletry items. You may also serve as a waiter/waitress, helping to serve breakfast. Volunteers should arrive by 9am, park in the courtyard parking area or street parking (metered on Race Street). Enter through the white double doors facing 4th Street in the church courtyard. PLEASE - since we make a commitment to the church that we will show up, if you sign up and your plans change and you cannot volunteer that day, please remember to change your RSVP with as much advance notice as possible. Thank you so much for considering joining this wonderful service event.
