The purpose of this group is to try and meet like minded people who have a shared interested in a great variety of the arts and culture. We hope to embrace all of the arts: opera, classical music, the visual arts, theatre, ballet, stately homes, exhibitions and the occasional visits to restaurants and coffee shops.
I am very kind but in order to understand how the group works here are the foundations.
I want members to attend something within 6 months of joining, then at least once a year after this. If you don't then I'll assume nothing interests you and you'll be removed. (There's no point me finding things for the group to do, if interest is never shown from your end.)
I will never charged anyone, to go to anything. But in order to control numbers and vet people, it helps with arrangements if it's members only for some events.
It costs several hundred of pounds to run the group through meet up fees and incidentals. Consequently, a ££20 membership fee is requested. If there's any other excess then it'll be invested back into the group. For example, to cover room hire charges for events or for the organiser to take members out for a coffee. And donations will be given to cultural charities.
I would like potential members to be willing to pay this upfront, and not come along and make up their mind first if and when they are willing to contribute to the running costs.
I am not looking to be paid. I am very kind. I'm not looking to debate the issue. This is a great group, the most interesting in the country. If you come with the right attitude you'll be welcome. If not, just don't bother me. Go elsewhere, or set up your own group.
