What we're about

This group is for anyone who likes to draw. Unlike other artists like musicians, actors or dancers... people who like to create drawings often do so alone. Once finished they tend to hide their sketch pad somewhere and few people get the pleasure of seeing their work. There's nothing wrong with that but it could also be a fun social activity just like it was when we were toddlers in art class.
All levels and styles are welcome and you could use any medium you like (pencils, charcoal, crayons etc.). We meet weekly in a public place like a coffee-shop or a park. Then you draw anything you like. It could be a bowl of fruit, a person modelling or a dog nearby. There are no teachers or prizes. Just sketching and friends having a wee blether.

Sketching and drawing Meetup at Kelvingrove downstairs Restaurant

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum

Simple plan: we meet up downstairs at the restaurant 10 am. (Someone will need to buy a coffee to keep us from being evicted!) Seriously, we can book a table for twelve noon for our feedback session, accompanied by coffee and cakes, very civilised. We wait until 10.15, then spread out and go around the museum or outside, weather permitting, and draw anything we like (sculptures, animals, people, ancient relics etc.) We usually meet again at the restaurant after 2 hours to share and see each other's work. If you have signed up and RSVP'ed to this event, it is helpful to let us know if you have changed plans, so that we are not kept waiting unnecessarily. It is helpful if you can post your best work to inspire others! NB the museum allows dry media only, to protect marble floors and exhibits. No paints or liquid inks, we are told. Let's do this!

All The Young Nudes - Life Drawing Club at Sloans

Our regular life drawing every Monday at Sloans Bar & Restaurant in the city centre. For more info on the event check their webpage below: http://atyn.co.uk/ or their Facebook page or Instagram channel (@atynudes) The drawing starts at 20:00 sharp, and runs until 22:00 with a 20 minute break at 21:00. The 19:15 start time is a chance to meet beforehand, have a drink, and a chat. There's not much chatting when the drawing starts. If it's your first visit, there's typically two models posing concurrently in different rooms. One does long poses, while the other starts off with quick 2 minute poses moving on to five, ten & fifteen minute poses. There's a break at 21:00 and then drawing resumes at 21:20 for two 20 minute poses. The models switch rooms at the break. You're free to wander around, go from room to room, seat to seat, as you wish. Drinks can be taken from the bar and there's a good soundtrack to accompany your drawing. Bring your own materials, although the event provides some basic stuff too. There are sketchpads to buy If you haven't got the Meetup app on your phone, it's worth getting. Plus, the wifi password at the venue is 'macaronicheese', should you not get a signal.

Wednesday life drawing South side

Good news for Southsiders! We run weekly life drawing on a Wednesday Night at McNeills Bar. We want to invite you to join us and draw from 6:30-8: 30 pm with an end time of 9pm to talk about drawings and have a chat after for those who want to stay for a drink. Poses will be longer as the month processed and will return to shorter poses the following month. We encourage you to bring along your art supplies of choice but will have boards and some materials available. To order tickets in advance you can Paypal me with your name and the date of the session to [masked] Prices are £8 and £6 for students. Or join our official Drawing life Meet up for a standard ticket discount here and pay £6.50 https://www.meetup.com/Drawing-Life-Glasgow-Life-Drawing-Meetup-Group/ You can buy drinks at the bar downstairs and bring them into the session. However, we will remove anyone not behaving responsibly
