What we're about

This group is for anyone who likes to draw. Unlike other artists like musicians, actors or dancers... people who like to create drawings often do so alone. Once finished they tend to hide their sketch pad somewhere and few people get the pleasure of seeing their work. There's nothing wrong with that but it could also be a fun social activity just like it was when we were toddlers in art class.
All levels and styles are welcome and you could use any medium you like (pencils, charcoal, crayons etc.). We meet weekly in a public place like a coffee-shop or a park. Then you draw anything you like. It could be a bowl of fruit, a person modelling or a dog nearby. There are no teachers or prizes. Just sketching and friends having a wee blether.

Sketching and drawing virtual Meetup NOT at Kelvingrove downstairs Restaurant

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum

About our group: we are a bunch of artists of mixed ability who learn from each other through meeting each week, drawing and then showing our work to the others. There is no charge, nor direct teaching, but you can always ask for help. We have people from all over come to join, all five continents, so don't feel left out! You will be warmly welcomed. Changed plan now because of the current viral pandemic. I propose avoid meeting, but we do our drawing wherever we are on Saturday mornings. We can then post to this page for others to see and comment if they wish. That should keep the thread going till life gets easier. What do people think? So RSVPing to this and future events just means you will be drawing 10-12 , and may post your outcome for others to see. We'll miss the repartee, etc., but at least we are keeping ourselves on track. PREVIOUS plan: we meet up downstairs outside the restaurant 10 am. We wait until 10.15, then spread out and go around the museum or outside, weather permitting, and draw anything we like (sculptures, animals, people, ancient relics etc.) We usually arrange to meet again at a suitable space at 12.30 to share and see each other's work. If you have signed up and RSVP'ed to this event, it is helpful to let us know if you have changed plans, so that we are not kept waiting unnecessarily. It is helpful if you can post your best work to inspire others! Let's do this!

Inspired Long Pose

Online event

Hello Everyone, This Friday we will be looking at a 3hr long pose. We are working with wonderful models each, in a pose inspired by a famous painting or image. This week we are working with Topaz from Reconfigure Life Drawing to create a pose inspired by Adele Bloch-Bauer II, by Klimt. We will also be taking an image of the pose for people to purchase after the events to continue drawing. This is a 3hr pose and will be the same pose throughout, this means you can join when suits you and still get a good amount of time to draw. The session is bookable via our webpage and has a sliding scale price range starting at £4 so everyone can take part. www.drawing-life.com I send out emails on the day around 11/11:30
