What we're about

This group is for anyone who likes to draw. Unlike other artists like musicians, actors or dancers... people who like to create drawings often do so alone. Once finished they tend to hide their sketch pad somewhere and few people get the pleasure of seeing their work. There's nothing wrong with that but it could also be a fun social activity just like it was when we were toddlers in art class.
All levels and styles are welcome and you could use any medium you like (pencils, charcoal, crayons etc.). We meet weekly in a public place like a coffee-shop or a park. Then you draw anything you like. It could be a bowl of fruit, a person modelling or a dog nearby. There are no teachers or prizes. Just sketching and friends having a wee blether.

All The Young Nudes - life drawing at Sloan's

Our regular life drawing Monday at Sloan's in the city centre. For more info on the event check their webpage below: http://atyn.co.uk/ The drawing event starts at 20:00 and runs until 22:00. The 19:15 start time is a chance to meet beforehand, have a drink, and a chat. There's not much chatting when the drawing starts. If it's your first visit, there's typically two models posing concurrently in different rooms. One does long poses, while the other starts off with quick 2 minute poses moving on to give and ten minute poses. There's a break at 21:00 and then drawing resumes at 21:20 for two 20 minute poses. The models change room at the break too. You're free to wander around, go from room to room, seat to seat, as you wish. Drinks can be taken from the bar and there's a good soundtrack to accompany your drawing. Bring your own materials, although the event provides some basic stuff too. If you haven't got the meetup app on your phone, it's worth getting. Plus, the wifi password at the venue is 'macaronicheese', should you not get a signal.

Observational drawing classes at Kelvingrove Museum

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum

Like the Saturday group but with tutor and materials provided. Whether you are looking to start drawing or are someone who draws each day, drawing from observation is a fundamental part of understanding your own visual language. Drawing life is offering a 6-week course held at the Kelvingrove Museum every Wednesday at 2pm-4pm. The course is designed to encourage students to develop a personal drawing language through concentrated observation. Each week there will be a different challenge set by the tutors to question the way you see, think, feel and draw. Materials will be provided for each session and we will be working with a variety of mediums. A day will cost £8 in advance or £10 in person. Or book the whole 6 sessions for £40 in advance £50 in person. Tickets can be bought at Drawing Life events page at http://ctzn.tk/kelvingrove We meet outside the front entrance at 1:45
