An intermediate ride through the East Valley This ride was designed for the intermediate cyclist, who want to improve fitness, and prepare for longer distances. In this ride, you will apply the skills that you learned as a beginner, and improve on your basic group riding skills. If you are not familiar with group riding etiquette, please refer to our beginning ride offerings. Our goal is to lessen group ride intimidation, by providing a friendly, non ego environment, where you can get feedback, and tips from other experienced riders. Rides start and end at the Gilbert shop on the NE corner of Gilbert and Guadalupe. We try our best to not leave anyone behind and usually have a designated sweeper on the ride, but if you are not able to maintain this average pace for these distances, you may want to try our beginner ride series. We will not stay behind for the slowest rider. We just want you to be aware of this when you sign up. This ride will be at an average pace of 18-20 + mph with distances between 28 and 45 miles, with pre-determined hydration/rest stops along the route. Routes vary with no hills, to more challenging fun rolling hills – check the comments below for the upcoming route. The ride will usually be split from the beginning into an A and B goup depending on the groups abilities, and size. The A group will be at a 20+ mph average pace ,and the B group is at a 18+ mph average pace. There will be predetermined stops using gas stations/rest stops as re-group points, and hydration refill stops. Riders should:Be sure to eat a light breakfast; suggestion: toast/peanut butter or oatmeal.Bring a road bike – you MUST wear a helmet to participate in this ride.If it is still dark when we take off you must have headlight and taillight as required by law.Bring plenty of water - we suggest 2 water bottles or a hydration pack.Bring a spare inner tube – stop by the store if you need a road side tool kit or lights.Wear comfortable clothing.Be prepared for two-three hours of riding.Arrive 15 minutes early and be sure to pump up tires.Obey traffic laws – you are responsible for your own safety. • Global Bikes Dirty Thursday @ SoMo - Early Morning MTB Ride

    Global Bikes- Ahwatukee

This is a weekly early morning (before the birds and the rest of Arizona wake up) MTB ride! Meetup with Kevin L. and/or Pete P. at our Ahwatukee Shop (Ray Rd. west of 48th -[masked]) and ride to Desert Classic Trail at South Mountain. Wheels down at 5:05am sharp in order to hit Desert Classic at the Warpaint trail head by 5:15. The ride is open to intermediate and advanced skilled riders. The ride will average 15 miles depending on who shows up, who’s been eating their Wheaties, and weekly route. The route will be somewhat fluid, but plan on Desert Classic (east or west) and possibly some of the connectors. We’ll try to keep the group together as much as possible, but we’ll decide on a couple of meeting spots because sometimes you get caught up daydreaming about rearranging your sock drawer and other times you want to ride like Tinker. The goal is to be back to the shop around 6:45am, because I know you are all anxious to rush off to work. During the non-summer months, adequate lighting is a must!!! I recommend a light on your brain bucket and a light on your bars (both 500 lumens or more). The faster you ride the more light you need! This is a ride at your own risk event. By RSVP'ing to this event... you are agreeing to the following waiver: While bicycling is an outstanding recreational sport, it also involves risk and even dangers.
