November Gophers
Hi London Gophers! 👋 Join us for some exciting talks this month at River Island! If you can't make it to the talks, or you're stuck on the waitlist, join us after the event for some socialising. 🗣 Jake Clarkson - Go - the language of portable cloud applications The Go team at Google recently released Go Cloud, a project that aims to make Go the "language of choice for developers building portable cloud applications". Armed with a brief history of portability as a concept we will look at how Go Cloud goes about achieving its aim with the aid of code examples and a live demo. ⚡️ Josh Blakeley - How do I secure my APIs with Go? Josh takes you on a whistle-stop tour of a few options you have to secure your shiny new Go APIs, and how an API gateway could help manage this. ⚡️ Wesley Hill - TBC 🗣 Nick Craig-Wood (@njcw) - Rclone: rsync for cloud storage (and much more) In this talk Nick talks about rclone, "rsync for cloud storage", which started life as a hobby project to learn Go but now is in use by thousands of people worldwide. He will go over what rclone does, its history, some favourite features with a dive into Go libraries and how you test a project which integrates with 20 cloud providers. 🍻 Post Event Social - Strongroom Bar & Kitchen (1 min walk from River Island) If you can't make it to the main event (working late, stuck on the waitlist, that big date) please join all the attendees in the pub for some refreshments. It's a great place to socialise, discuss talks and just hang out with other Gophers 🤓. 🏆 Everyone attending the event will have a chance to win a JetBrains license valid for a year! 💼 We'll also have a section dedicated to those of you who are hiring or looking to get hired. 📣 If you'd like to give a talk at the future meetups, don't be shy, we are always looking for speakers and speaker mentors that want to share their adventures with Go. Do get in touch! We’ll be happy to support you and offer advice if needed 🙂. P.S. We are always looking for sponsors - and venues! - as well. So if you know someone that can help us with the food / beverage budget, we'll be happy to add the name to our sponsors list. Gophers are known to like food and being hydrated. Thank you! 📍 Host - River Island 👏🏻 Sponsor - Luno --
