First Five - Readings from your work & Kindle Discussion

Details

We had such a wonderful response from all of you at the last reading — I thought we'd try it again. This time — a full five minutes of reading from your project — beginning anywhere within your project (I know so many of you were wanting to read from "Your good part." There will be awards for first, second and third places.

And now that Charles Bell has given us a list of where we live — you can meet the people in your neighborhood to get a writers group going. Only 70 days or so until fall, so time to get cracking on getting that group going. Also, we're going to have a look at Kindle Singles — a very elite part of Amazon headed by an editor. Let's look at how much authors can make in the Kindle program and discuss what you need to do to be part of it.

You may bring someone with you :) Please bring a pen or pencil for voting. Also, I'm printing out ballots, so LET ME KNOW BY WEDNESDAY 5PM IF YOU'RE GOING TO READ!!!!

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING, I GET SO

TIRED OF PEOPLE NOT READING THIS —

Get here early so you can grab a cup of coffee at the Fleet Center cafe!!!

We will be at this location until 10:10 and then move as a group to our sequestered location. After we move, we will not be available by cellphone (I will turn it off). You can reach me at[masked] — do not call asking for directions on how to get there — that's what Google is for (I'm horrible at directions). Print out your directions. Don't ask us to wait for you, we will have the phone on for the very short time we're walking. We meet at several locations, depending on the weather, so I can't post it beforehand (because I won't know). Just be on time, so exhausted from hearing excuses.

For those of you who are a second no-show, you will be removed from the list. If there is a waiting list, and you don't give 24-hour-notice, you will also be removed from the list.

Bring a beach towel to sit on, or better yet, a folding chair. Make sure to bring something to sit on, because if it's damp the ground could still be a little damp.

The best thing to do is >>BE ON TIME<<, for some of you that means getting there well beforehand. There will be difficulty finding parking, so the best thing to do is shoot for being there 30 minutes early, or it will all be for naught. The reward of being early is that you can get something to drink at the Fleet Center cafe before we head out.

HOW TO GET THERE: http://www.rhfleet.org/visit/directions Park in the back of the Fleet Center. Park in back of the Fleet Center for easy access. For a map of Balboa Park — here www.balboapark.org/sites/default/files/balboaparkmap.pdf Or go here http://www.balboapark.org/maps-old The Fleet Center is #11. Print out the map to bring with you. We will meet here at the fountain closest to the Fleet Center.
