What we're about
If you've landed on this page, you're probably either looking for something to do, you want to meet new people, make some friends and have some fun.
This is a community group for people who want to mainly go out in the area around St Neots, Bedford and on occasion, Cambridge. Events will sometimes be posted outside the area, but membership is for those who live close enough to attend regularly.
How you got here will vary - you'll find most of us have either had a break up, divorce, or our long term friends have met someone and are spending more time with him/her, or various other things. You could also be an 'empty nester' which means you have more freedom to do things, but you might be feeling a bit 'lost'.
Events will be varied, and will include things that you'll love, and other things that will just not appeal. Try everything though - a coffee morning will not be quite what you think and if you're worried about going out to the pub for the first time in ages, there will be others who have stepped in similar shoes.
This group is for mid 30s to mid 50s (with a 'can do' attitude). This group is aimed at people who are young/old enough to remember the Spice Girls in the charts, and were also shocked that we lost Bowie, Prince and George Michael in less than 12 months, among many others. Basically you're an 80s or 90s teenager. If you find yourself saying you're 'getting old' we are not for you, but there are lots of great groups that will be.
There is an annual membership contribution of £4.00 per member towards the cost of the website which will be collected in two instalments - the first on your first event and then the second will be either in April or October when our bill is due from Meetup HQ.
Please be aware that a high standard is required at all times, which should go without saying. To look after everyone, please note that inappropriate, bullying or harassing treatment of others will not be tolerated and will usually result in removal from the group.
Please respect the time of your hosts and organisers. They all have full time jobs - Meetup is something they do to help others. Please remember to read the event information before sending a message.
One last thing- your member profile - there are just a few short questions which you need to complete to be accepted as a member and a photo of you that we can recognise you from is essential. This is a closed group so you have privacy from non members seeing you.
Life is too short - say 'I'm Going Out' more often, meet up with friends, old and new.
