More About Meditation
Recent scientific studies are beginning to prove what many ancient cultures (particularly Buddhist monks) have maintained for centuries: that mental discipline and meditative practice can change the workings of the brain and allow people to achieve different levels of awareness. Meditation is proven to greatly reduce the harm of stress and anxiety naturally.
If you can answer yes to one or more of the following questions then meditation could be of great benefit for you:
Do you feel as though your life is lacking direction?
Do you wish you were more creative?
Are you desiring to improve your work performance?
Do you desire to improve your performance in a sport or other recreational activity?
Do you often feel as though you cannot meet the demands of your life do to lack of time or resources?
Are you fearful of change or new experiences?
Are you prone to inappropriate emotional outbursts?
Do you often overreact to stressful situations?
Do you suffer from lack of sleep due to restlessness or an overactive mind?
Are you often scattered and unfocused?
Do you have difficulty conveying your thoughts into words effectively?
By expanding inner peace and tranquility, meditation helps to reduce uncontrollable, self-deprecating, mental clutter allowing for a greater connection to our "higher" or true selves often called our "higher" consciousness. It is at these higher levels of being that our true potential can be found and harnessed.
During meditation you become more alert and focused, less reactive and more responsive. Meditation has the benefit of affecting your entire life, giving you the ability to better handle stressful emotions. When you start to feel your ability to let thoughts and emotions come and go freely, in your realm of consciousness, then you are just beginning to reach some of the many incredible benefits that meditation practice has in store for you.
