The Grand Rapids Psychedelic Society aims to connect individuals in West Michigan who have an interest in psychedelic substances. In creating a space for these individuals to come together, we seek to nurture productive dialogues about the utility of psychedelics for various purposes. Our hope is through repeated in-person interactions, the Grand Rapids Psychedelic Society will foster a community-wide conversation about the growing importance of psychedelics.
Do you have an interest or curiosity in psychedelics?
After 40+ years of misinformation, propaganda, and destructive prohibition, psychedelic substances are undergoing a re-emergence in our cultural zeitgeist.
This phenomena has occurred in two primary spheres:
1. Research for issues like PTSD, depression, addiction, and anxiety.
2. Within start-up and entrepreneurial circles
In starting the Grand Rapids Psychedelic Society, we plan to create a space for individuals in the greater West Michigan area to come together to discuss various aspects of the psychedelic experience. Specifically, we aim to give individuals a platform to discuss how these experiences have contributed to transformations in their personal and professional lives.
Our meet-ups will focus on various aspects of psychedelia, including:
Talks from various leaders within the psychedelic sphere - including researchers, writers, entrepreneurs, and policy makers.
Stories from meet-up attendees about their personal psychedelic experiences
Informal discussions about topics like a post-prohibition world, microdosing, the role of psychedelics in catalyzing social change, and much more
Viewings of documentaries and discussions of psychedelic-related books
We invite you to join us for these meetings. Whether you’re an experienced psychonaut or an individual who is simply curious about learning more, the Grand Rapids Psychedelic Society will be a space for you to build community with other psychedelic users.
Discussion of psychedelic substances is protected under the First Amendment. Any individual who attempts to solicit illicit substances will be asked to leave, and permanently barred from attending future events.
Also, in creating a space for all individuals, we encourage discretion when discussing events with other people in the community. Please do not use names of individuals who speak about their personal experiences unless explicit permission is granted. Due to the cultural stigma still attached to psychedelic substances, it is challenging enough for people to speak openly about their personal experiences.
***A note to all newcomers: Becoming a member of our Meetup group will allow you to receive meeting reminder emails. RSVP is encouraged, we don't have any other way of knowing attendance. Please always check the event page before coming, in the case of any changes.***
Join us for our biweekly free flowing discussion of all things in the Psychedelic space, no experience necessary!
***If we decide on a discussion topic, we'll describe it here***
Please plan to arrive on time, meetings will begin shortly after noon. The back entrance will be locked and unattended by 1215. Hope to see you all there!
Suggested donation for events is $2, this helps offset the expense of the rental of the space and our Meetup subscription. Coffee and tea will be provided.
###Please note: none of our events encourage or facilitate illegal activity, please do not attend if that is your intention###
