Hi there! 😃
Yay! We are back with another super duper meetup! Are you for real? Yeah doh... Twitter will be hosting again with their largest room and delicious catering! If you haven't joined yet this will be a great opportunity to meet and greet the largest GraphQL community in the world. That's right! We have been around since 2016 and today I'm happy to announce GraphQL SF is now part of our family too! Woot!? Yeah... Now, that IS cool! ✨🦄
Talks and Speakers
• GraphQL & Caching: The Elephant in the Room (by Marc-André Giroux)
Marc is a jazz guitarist turned developer, he is currently working at GitHub, where he is trying to help building better APIs. When he's not hacking on or thinking about GraphQL, you might find him throwing heavy weights above his head.
Is GraphQL really not cacheable? In this talk Marc will dive into the world of caching and GraphQL, explore why it's tricker to use caching in GraphQL and attempt to add some nuance to a very polarised subject.
• Automating Schema Generation (by Haggai Kaunda)
Haggai is a half-baked Civil Engineer turned Software Engineer, currently working on Twitter's CoreApi team which is responsible for running Twitter's GraphQL service among other things. A jack of all trades and master of none, you might find him playing piano, ping pong, skiing, reading a book or learning a new language during his free time. Oh and did I mention jumping!?
In this talk we will explore how we can automate GraphQL schema generation without placing the burden on API developers to write custom server code and make changes in the API layer when they need to add new data to the schema.
