Hi everyone and happy belated new year! 😃

Yay! We are kicking off 2020 with a new venue! This time around, Deliveroo will be hosting and offering some delicious bites at their swanky new HQ on Cannon Street!

There's a lot to celebrate as we just recently went over 2K members and consolidate our position as the largest GraphQL community in the world since 2016! ✨🦄

Talks and Speakers

• Describing Your UI with GraphQL (by Alex Vernacchia)

Alex is a Senior Software Engineer at Deliveroo. Programmer by day, chiller by night. He is focused on making the front-end web a better place for all of us. Talk to him about all things dev, selling food, taking payments, customer service, and digital marketing/advertising.

While GraphQL selectively returns data and is self documenting, it’s also really good at another thing; it can help model API data in a way that describes the UI. There are various different levels of how to do this, ranging from only combining different data sources to having the data decide everything.

This talk is about the different ways you can use GraphQL to help describe your UI with data, what we’ve done here at Deliveroo, and some of the good and bad things we encountered along the way.

• How to use Apollo Federation (by Jonathan Jalouzot)

Jonathan is a freelance at Eurosport and co-founder of GraphQL Paris Meetup. Accomplished speaker with more than 5 years experience, He likes to talk on many topics but specially about web performance and caching. During last year he has been using Apollo GraphQL and advocating GraphQL to the French community.

GraphQL stitching is now deprecated. Apollo Federation is a new technology introduced by Apollo GraphQL for composing multiple GraphQL services into a unified Data Graph.

But how does Apollo Federation work? Why should you use it? What use cases does it support? What are its limitations? In this talk we will learn about how to start using Apollo Federation in your projects.
