Welcome to the Q4 2020 online edition of GraphQL Sydney, our last for the year!

We've got a couple of great talks lined up to end 2020, so we hope you'll come and join us (and maybe be inspired to create your own talk to kick off 2021!).

  1. Production Ready GraphQL: Rapid Development of GraphQL APIs using AWS
  • Robertson Taylor

Building your first production application using GraphQL can seem overwhelming. In this talk you'll learn how you can build out a reliable, scalable, and extensible GraphQL API in a matter of minutes using AWS Amplify and AWS AppSync. You'll also learn how to leverage interesting features like subscriptions and we'll touch on how to bake complex behavior into your API calls.

  1. Batch queries for GraphQL to avoid N+1 issues
  • Bapu Sethi

I would like to demonstrate the challenges GrapghQL presents with regards to fetching association data and how it leads to N+1 database queries and makes GraphQL query slow. I will use Rails Activerecord for use case.

I would also like to talk about summary of graphql-batch gem to find a solution to mitigate this issue.

We will add a Zoom link on to this page closer to the event date.

Follow along the chat either within Zoom, or on the #australia channel in the GraphQL Slack for chat during the meetup. You can join the GraphQL Slack via the following link:

Look forward to seeing you there!
