After overcoming personal challenges through gratitude practices, nature walks and heartfelt connections, Dr. Chambers-Holder created this space to share her journey and inspire others, build meaningful connections, give back to our communities through community service while improving mental, emotional and physical health.
According to Dr. Chambers-Holder,
"Gratitude Choice Project is my way of paying rent for this amazing gift of life. After experiencing years of illness where I couldn't move, walking in nature, journaling, and feeling supported were a big part of my healing journey. I am inviting my fellow human beings to join me. Let's heal together while putting love and UNITY back into COMMUNITY." She frequently speaks at conferences, leads workshops, and shares her expertise through media appearances.

Mindful Gratitude Walk @ Zoar Trail

Join us this Saturday morning at 10:00 AM for a Gratitude Walk/Hike at Zoar Trail!

Come reconnect with nature, slow down, breathe deeply, and let your inner child come out to play! 💚
Zoar Trail is one of my favorites, and I’m looking forward to sharing this beautiful space with you. We’ll move at a mindful, comfortable pace, and the distance may be adjusted depending on the group’s experience and energy level.

Come as you are. Bring your gratitude, your curiosity, and your willingness to connect. 🌿
Old friends, new friends—we’d love
to see you there!
Looking forward to connecting, laughing, breathing, and creating another beautiful memory together. ❤️🙏🏾
Gratitude in Action. 🌿💚
The Zoar Trail is a 6.1-mile loop trail near Stevenson, CT, but we will aim for about 5 miles or less, dependingon how everyone is feeling. The trail can be found within Paugussett State Forest, running along the Housatonic River and Zoar Lake before looping inland.
This trail is well marked and popular and can become very busy on the weekends, so arrive early or hike during the week. The path has excellent water views and travels through classic New England terrain with glacial features and spruce and hardwood forest.

The trail is a moderate hike. There are many rocky little scrambles mixed with roots and a steep climb up to the ridge at the end of the shoreline section. The climb is short, but there are quite a few smaller ups and downs over rocky terrain along the shoreline route.
Check out the terrain to see if this hike is for you.

Please wear comfortable hiking shoes, bring water and snacks, and bundle up, it will be cold! Looking forward to seeing you!
*REQUIREMENTS FOR GRATITUDE WALKS/HIKES:
No one wants to find themselves in a situation where they are lost or hurt in the ‘middle of nowhere by themselves – it’s vital that everyone follow the guidelines to prevent such a scenario, no matter the likelihood of it happening.

  • Please DO NOT sign up for a hike if you are not planning to finish it (For safety concerns, we start out together and end together. Unless it is an emergency, you will be removed from the group if you show up for the gratitude circle then leave after or leave halfway into the hike).
*Keep an ID with your emergency contact/s information with you at all times, just in case there is an emergency.
  • Bring water to stay hydrated, snacks for energy, bug/tick repellant, wear comfortable clothes (non-cotton if possible.. to keep dry), and wear trail sneakers or hiking shoes/boots for comfort.
*Be open, accepting, and respectful at all times. Also, you can social distance and wear masks if you feel more comfortable doing so.

KINDLY DON'T BE A NO SHOW. Please be considerate and cancel your spot at least 24 hours in advance, especially on a hike with a wait list. No shows and last minute cancels will not be included in future events.

PARTICIPATION IS AT YOUR OWN RISK. Hike leaders are not responsible for your safety, you may sustain an injury while hiking.

COVID AGREEMENT: There is an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 in any public place where other people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and even death. By voluntarily participating in an event hosted by Gratitude Choice Project you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19. If you test positive for COVID in the next 14 days, you agree to contact the hike leader who will provide contact tracing information.

------------ We will be practicing social distancing of at least 6 feet as well as wearing a mask when stationary. While actively hiking we will increase spacing to about 15 feet (1 car length) and you may take your face covering off only at that time.

------------ What to bring: * Mask \ *Wear comfortable sneakers or hiking boots * \ *2 bottles of cold water * Trail snacks for energy \ *Insect repellent
