This Meetup Group will focus on the Apache Kafka® technology and its ecosystem, also allowing its members to interact and share their use cases, dos and don’ts, how tos, etc.

We will also hear about the Confluent Platform, Confluent Cloud and topics like Kafka’s Connect API and streaming data pipelines, ksqlDB, Kafka’s Streams API and stream processing, Security, Microservices and anything else related to Apache Kafka®.

If you’re new to Kafka, get a quick intro and then find all the resources you’ll need to continue your development at http://bit.ly/Confluent-Developer-io

We want this to be an active platform for the community, so if you would like to participate by speaking, hosting, etc, please let us know on community@confluent.io

From ksqlDB with Love: Detecting 007’s presence with a dash of machine learning

Hello Kafkateers! In order to do our part to help flatten the curve of the spread of COVID-19, we are moving all of our meetups online for the time being. Please find the details to join this fun and informative meetup below. Find information about upcoming meetups and tons of content from past Kafka Meetups all over the world: cnfl.io/meetup-hub ----- Agenda: 6:00pm-6:10pm: Online Networking (feel free to BYOB!!) 6:10pm-7:10pm: From ksqlDB with Love: Detecting 007’s presence with a dash of machine learning, Hans-Peter Grahsl, Technical Trainer at NETCONOMY (includes Q&A) Joining our slack space is not instant, so ensure that you are in, in time for the event, follow the steps within this link before the day of the event if you can! https://launchpass.com/confluentcommunity ----- Speaker: Hans-Peter Grahsl, Technical Trainer at NETCONOMY Title of Talk: From ksqlDB with Love: Detecting 007’s presence with a dash of machine learning Abstract: While lots of people are fancying stream processing technologies, many are hesitant when it comes to adoption because the landscape and ecosystem feel somewhat intimidating at first sight. Fear not, ksqlDB (the event streaming database for Apache Kafka) takes away a lot of burden so that application developers can focus on solving business needs. After a brief introduction to ksqlDB, this session continues with a memorable and fun example featuring the fictional Secret Service agent 007. In a step-by- step fashion, you are walked through an end-to-end streaming scenario which is about near real-time face identification in synthetic CCTV images. The example helps you to gain a better understanding about ksqlDB's learning curve characteristics, extensibility options as well as integration paths with machine learning related tools and services. Bio: Hans-Peter is working as a technical trainer at NETCONOMY in Graz, Austria. As an independent engineer & consultant he is working with customers to build on-premise or cloud-based data architectures using the event streaming platform Apache Kafka together with NoSQL data stores. Hans-Peter is also an associate lecturer for Software Engineering at CAMPUS 02 and occasionally speaks at developer conferences. ----- Online Meetup Etiquette: •Please unmute yourself when you have a question. •Please hold your questions until the end of the presentation or use the zoomchat! •Please arrive on time as zoom meetings can become locked for many reasons (though if you get locked out a recording will be available, but you may have to wait a little while for it!) ---- If you would like to speak or host our next event please let us know!
