SEPTEMBER CAMPING TRIP TO KETTLE MORAINE SOUTH A visit to the Kettle Moraine State Forest reveals the natural beauty of the region. More than 22,000 acres of glacial hills, kettles, lakes, prairie restoration sites, pine woods and hardwood forests can be found in the Southern Unit making this facility a popular area for a wide variety of users. Visitors to the forest can camp in one of three family campgrounds, a horse riders camp or one of two group camps, hike, mountain bike, ride a horse, snowmobile or ski on the 160+ miles of trail, swim at one of two beaches, backpack to an overnight shelter on the Ice Age Trail, picnic, fish, hunt, or tour three historic cabin sites. There are also facilities for use by those with disabilities including a cabin in the campground and an accessible nature trail. Visit the Southern Unit, experience the beauty and take advantage of the diversity of facilities it has to offer. We'll be staying in Pine Woods which is located in the Northern part of Kettle Moraine Southern Unit. Here are the details: KETTLE MORAINE SF - Southern Unit Pinewoods Campground - Group Sites W348 S4695 Waterville Rd Dousman, wi [masked] 3 NIGHTS Thursday, September 27th through Sunday, September 30th FLAT FEE of $42.50 for this trip regardless of how many nights you can attend. Your fee includes: - Breakfast on Friday and Sunday mornings - Dinner on Friday and Saturday nights - Firewood for the weekend - Campsite fees - Meetup and WePay fees - Miscellaneous expenses and equipment maintenance and replacement The event is pre-pay for you to be able to RSVP YES. If you cannot attend, you must request a refund NO LATER THAN THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 13 AT 10:00 PM. If you cancel after this time or are a no-show, you will lose your payment. Food: Everyone should bring their own food for all snacks and lunches. I will send all final meal details in the pre-trip literature a few days in advance. Please feel free to bring any additional side dishes, condiments, etc. you would like to eat with meals. PLEASE NOTE: ALL BEVERAGES including coffee, juice and milk - alcohol and non-alcohol - are BYOB. Also, please bring a mess kit - a wash line will be set up. Cars: We can have 15 cars at this group site. For carpoolers, please use the comment field to leave the following information: - Whether you need a ride or can drive - How many passengers you can take - What city or neighborhood you will be leaving from - What day and time you plan to leave In addition, a Wisconsin State Parks Vehicle Permit is required per vehicle. Stickers must be purchased upon arrival or prior to entering the park. This fee is in addition to the camping fee. Permit prices: Wisconsin Resident Annual $28; Non-resident Annual $38; Resident Daily $8; Non-resident Daily $11. Attendance/Waiting List: I am limiting the trip to the first 25 to RSVP and pay. We can have as many tents as we need at the site - in previous years it looked like a little village! Again, I ask the following: 1) This is an adult only event.     The Great Lakes Outdoor Adventures Meetup is a group of adults who enjoy the outdoors through camping, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, snow shoeing, fabulous camp fires, and other adventures! We enjoy 3-4 day camping trips to Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and Indiana with opportunities for hiking, canoeing/kayaking and visitations to local sites. We also host a variety of one day outings around the Chicago and nearby areas

    A hallmark of our trips is that we dine together with group preparation of meals and a volunteer system to share responsibility for conducting each event. We are a fun and welcoming bunch, so if you are looking for new friends who share your yen for outdoor adventures, this is the group for you. All levels of experience are welcome provided you have the requisite skills for any activity in which you participate.
