What we're about

Great Outdoors is a group for people who love the outdoors and would like to get away at the weekends to experience our wonderful countryside, national parks and coastal areas.

Why join Great Outdoors?

There are a lot of hiking group in and around London, however I am consistently told that the Great Outdoors groups are the most friendly out there.

At each of our MeetUps you can expect to meet some of our regulars who come to our hikes and/or have been with us on our weekend or international trips. You can also expect to be greeted personally by the person hosting the event. Come back a few times and you could be a regular too!

Although the group is based in London, we are open to anyone from around the UK because weekends will are staged all over the country and overseas.

Nearly all our hikes finish with a visit to a pub, as after a days hiking that is the ideal end point to carry on the conversations you were having on route!

Great Outdoors together with our other groups Outdoor Weekends and A1 London Hiking have over 8000 members and counting.

We might not be the biggest outdoors group in the UK, and we might not be the oldest outdoors group in the UK, but you can bet your butt we are the coolest and the sexiest outdoors group in the UK!

So if you want to meet fun, active, sociable people - join us and come out to a Meetup soon!

Please always check your e mail and this web site for any updates before leaving for each event, I can read weather forecasts like a book, you won't melt in the rain, but we're aiming for hiking not swimming, so there may be updates on weather travel and a very slim chance of cancellation. Always check your travel the night before (tube closures every weekend people!) TFL Journey Planner http://www.tfl.gov.uk/ ....................................................
