What do you hope to get out of this meetup?

Exposure to others' skillsets; discover opportunities to learn or work on embedded systems going forward.

What sort of embedded engineer are you?

While the term "embedded" is subjective, ( I've yet to find a definition every Embedded person agrees on, ) I worked on a console-less, priprietary multi-computer system from Mercury Computer Systems. I developed a high-throughput application that had medium latency requirements, and tracked both. The design involved a multi-staged, parallel-processing. Each application: communicated via asynchronous remote-DMA; had to carefully assign memory; used SIMD numeric-processing library calls for throughput; and keep track of the cache-locality as the data was processed.

I'm a software engineer, with a background in math and science. I've worked with console-less, specialized multi-computer systems at my last job. "Embedded" is subjective, but I always had to know where my data was at all times.
