PORN AND TRAFFICKING: MAKING THE CONNECTION (Live: Vednita Carter & Gail Dines)
Details
Porn and trafficking exist in a symbiotic relationship. Porn creates the demand for trafficked women and children, and trafficking provides porn with a steady supply of vulnerable women and children. Pornography and trafficking both depend on the intersection of sexism, racism, and poverty to deliver a steady supply of women and children to the sex industry.
Join activist Vednita Carter, founder of Breaking Free https://breakingfree.net/ , and Culture Reframed's Gail Dines in a Facebook Live conversation on Wednesday, October 7, at Noon PDT.

Breaking Free https://breakingfree.net/
Every year, Breaking Free helps hundreds of women escape sex trafficking and prostitution through direct services. We provide housing, advocacy, intensive education programs, support, and hope to survivors. Breaking Free’s own diversity helps to intentionally provide additional support to serve women of color who are disproportionately represented in the demographics of sex trafficking, prostitution, and sexual exploitation.
The single greatest barrier to escaping sex trafficking in the United States is a lack of safe housing. Breaking Free is currently the only survivor-led provider of housing services to adult victims of sex trafficking in Minnesota. We provide a drop-in center and permanent supportive housing for 41 family units. In 2019, Breaking Free opened the only emergency shelter specifically for victims of sex trafficking and prostitution in Minnesota.
