What we're about

The Greater Seattle Tarot Meetup promises to bring together all levels of tarot practitioners in the Seattle Metro Area and beyond. Our goal is to provide a safe and encouraging space to learn, practice, and share the art of tarot for guidance and growth.

Through regular meetups, in-depth classes, and fun social events, the Greater Seattle Tarot Meetup seeks to nurture our local tarot community. Join us to learn something new, develop your skills, expand your confidence, and explore the tarot.

We love the tarot both for its simplicity and complexity. All tarot practice begins with the image on the card and the unfolding story in the spread. But a variety of metaphysical traditions inform the system of tarot divination, including astrology, qabalah, numerology, and healing. Through the cultivation of knowledge, the awakening of intuition, and the diligence of practice we seek to apply tarot and its complementary esoteric tools for personal growth and spiritual transformation.

Whether you’re just starting out, or if you’ve followed the Fool for years on this lifelong journey, welcome to the Greater Seattle Tarot Meetup!

Currently, our meetups are held via Zoom. We meet on the first and third Saturdays from 9:30-11:30 am Pacific time. Please check out our event listing to see upcoming topics. I hope to see you at our next event!

[ONLINE] The Four Suits and the Four Elements

Link visible for attendees

The four elements -- fire, water, air, and earth -- correspond to the four suits of the tarot. But how can you tell which element is associated with which suit? And how can we use that in our readings?

In this hands-on exploration, we'll look at a variety of tarot decks and learn how to use the visual and symbolic clues in the cards to understand which element is associated with which suit. Each element represents a particular energy, and we can use this to understand the meaning in the card.

Then based on our research, aided by helpful handouts, we'll compile a list of symbols that represent each element so that we can always clearly identify the energy embodied in the card.

Although all levels can learn from this, this is perfect for beginners or even those who have never seen a tarot deck before. If you already know tarot, you might have to leave behind what you've already learned, just for a night. We'll let imagination and creativity guide us, rather than hard and fast rules.

This is a free event.

This is a two-hour workshop, from 9:30am-11:30am Pacific time. 10:30-12:30pm Mountain, 11:30am-1:30pm Central, 12:30-2:30 Eastern, and 5:30pm-7:30 pm London time.

[ONLINE] Cube of Space: Message of the Chaldean Order, Part I

Link visible for attendees

Denver Tarot Geeks, in association with the Greater Seattle Tarot Meetup, continue our fascinating exploration of the Cube of Space as it relates to the tarot, and their dual application as a map for spiritual progress. In this new series, we will be focusing on the extensive work by Kevin Townley on the subject.

While our previous series followed the linear initiatory model outlined by David Allen Hulse, Townley’s journey around the Cube progresses holistically, building up from the inside into an interconnected whole. Tracing its development from Sepher Yetzirah, sacred geometry, numerology, gematria and ceremonial magic, a cubic matrix is formed that incorporates not only the Major Arcana, but the whole of the tarot.

Our primary text for the series will be The Cube of Space: Container of Creation by Kevin Townley (https://kevintownley.com/?product_cat=books-by-kevin-townley))

We will progress chapter by chapter as we pick apart the dense statistics of Townley’s structure, every first Saturday of each month:

March 5th - Chapter One: The Cube of Truth
April 2nd - Chapter Two: The Principle of Correspondence
May 7th - Chapter Three: The Tree and the Cube
June 4th - Chapter Four: The Placement of the Major and Minor Arcana
July 2nd - Chapter Five: The 27 Cubic Units
August 6th - Chapter Six: The Message of the Chaldean Order
September 3rd - Chapter Seven: Chaldean Order Part II
October 1st - Conclusion & Beyond

We will endeavor to view the Cube and the tarot from a different angle, using study, discussion, meditation and personal practice, and to create a deeper dimension to our spiritual progress.

We will also be drawing from the following additional sources:

The Sepher Yetzirah, trans. Aryeh Kaplan (https://redwheelweiser.com/detail.html?id=9780877288558))
The Tarot, A Key to the Wisdom of the Ages by Paul Foster Case (http://store.bota.org/1003.html))
New Dimensions for the Cube of Space by David Allen Hulse (https://www.amazon.com/New-Dimensions-Cube-Space-Initiation-ebook/dp/B003CFAZXC/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?))

This is a free two-hour workshop, from 9:30am-11:30am Pacific time. 10:30-12:30pm Mountain, 11:30am-1:30pm Central, 12:30-2:30 Eastern, and 5:30pm-7:30 pm London time.
