Remove Invasive Plants from Uplands Park, Oak Bay!

We will be returning to Uplands Park in Oak Bay to remove invasive English ivy and Daphne! This park is home to 20 threatened and endangered species. The Garry Oak ecosystem found in this park is also among the most endangered ecosystems in Canada, so the work we do here is significant!

Washrooms
There are no washrooms at this location! Please go before you arrive at the activity, the nearest washroom is at Willows Beach.

WHAT TO BRING

• Rain jacket in case it rains
• Refillable water bottle. Please bring water and snacks! We will have water bottles for those who forget and packaged refreshments.
• A hat, sunscreen
• Your own gardening gloves, tools, safety glasses
• Mask
• Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty
• Long sleeves and long pants to protect from thorny plants and ticks
• Sturdy closed toe shoes/boots

FLOW OF THE ACTIVITY

• Meet at 1:00PM for sign-in, introductions (please be on time)

• Remove invasive plants
• Take break for refreshments half way through
• Volunteer until 4:15 PM then sign-out at end, take home an eco-gift!
