GreeceJS #19

Details
Hello GreeceJS,
Summer is imminent and we've scheduled our last meetup for this season on Tuesday, June 13. This is a meetup you wouldn't want to miss, and here's why:
You all know git, right? But how well do you know it? It's time to go nuclear: Stratos Pavlakis will take a deep dive into advanced git techniques.
Last time we talked about Cycle.js, we assumed our audience was familiar with functional programming. Turns out we were wrong! So we asked Nikos Kalogridis to come back for a second talk and show us how functional style programming with JS is done.
The agenda for this meetup is:
18:00 - 18:30
Networking, food & beverages
18:30 - 18:45
Opening talk
18:45 - 19:30
Functional style programming with JS
Nikos Kalogridis (https://twitter.com/nikoskalogridis), Senior software engineer @Tripsta

What is functional programming? Why all the fuss about it and how does it compare with OOP? How do you write functional code with JS? How do programming patterns apply (e.g. dependency injection, ports/adapters architecture)?
20:00 - 20:45
Gitting like a Pro
Stratos Pavlakis (https://twitter.com/th3hunt), UI Tech Lead @Workable

Don't fear the Git! Well, easier said than done... I know. However being productive as coders involves mastering our tools. And mastering Git can make the difference between ๐ and ๐ . It can make the difference between leaving the office at 18:00 and leaving the office at 22:00. In this presentation we'll do some live coding and make the most out of Git to deal with old time classic problems.
21:00
BeerJS @The Lazy Bulldog Pub
Orfeos 2, Athens (right next to the venue)
Looking forward to seeing you all there. And don't forget our BeerJS event. It's a perfect opportunity to meet fellow colleagues and engage with the community.
This event is sponsored by Phaistos Networks (http://www.phaistosnetworks.gr/).
