Green films are important. They show what's really happening on the planet right now. And some of the inspiring solutions to the world's environmental issues.
Every year there are some terrific green films released, but they're pretty easy to miss. They only have a short run or they don't get a run at mainstream cinemas at all. We spot the best of them and let you know where they're on. Or we put them on ourselves.
Plus we help you "find your tribe" - other sensitive, thoughtful people like yourself who care about the world and are smart enough to want to see the big picture. We'll get together before or after the film, so you can meet them.
HOW WE'RE GOING TO DO IT
We'll make the most of film festivals:
We'll go to a number of films that are part of a leading film festival (like the Sydney Film Festival) or a dedicated green film festival (like the Transitions Film Festival.)
Our own intimate showings:
Other times we'll organise our own showing. These will be smaller affairs. We'll find interesting, unusual venues for them. (Suggestions welcome!)
Occasionally we might team up with a like-minded meetup group or a green group or NGO to put it on. A few times a year we may have a speaker on the topic of the film. (We'll try to get the filmmaker where possible!)
Most will be environmental docos:
We'll mostly show new release environmental documentaries. There may be the odd 'classic' green film from a few years back or a fictional movie with an environmental theme. There'll be about 12 films in the year - so we'll make sure the ones we choose are the best around.
We're open to your ideas:
If you have a suggestion for us let us know. Whether it be film, venue, speaker, or group to collaborate with. You can post ideas in the Discussion section.
Check out how many great green films are out there!
