I created this group so we can build a community of organic gardeners in the Greensboro area. There are lots of events and happenings related to gardening in the area, so I wanted a place where we can organize all of this information. By creating this club, we can help each other to grow more food! I think this group can function in several ways, and I have lots of ideas on what it can turn into. I am open to any and all suggestions and want this group to be ran by EVERYONE in it.. The purpose is to build community before anything else. Here are some of my ideas:

*CALL FOR HELP* If you have a garden, want to put in a garden, need help with a bigger project (creating a greenhouse, pond, etc.) you can suggest a *call for help* event where other gardeners can come and help you in your garden. This will allow people without gardens to get hands-on experience and will allow us all to create bigger & better gardens.

*GARDENING CLUB* This can be a weekly/bi-weekly event at a coffee shop or other venue where we can get together to discuss gardening-related subjects.

*GARDEN TOURS* This is for anyone with a beautiful garden that would like to show it off. You can use this event to teach others what you have learned in your garden, offer plant cuttings, and so much more.

*FARM TOURS* We as a group can arrange tours with organic farms in the area to see how they grow on a larger scale. We could offer gleaning services, help for a day on the farm, or learn from the farmers.

*FOOD IS FREE* We can organize a group of individuals interested in offering free seedlings of all sorts to anyone who wants to garden but doesn't have the funds to do so. This group can also offer extra produce to individuals/organizations who help to feed the hungry.

*GARDENING LECTURES* Do you know a lot about a particular subject? Offer to teach a class and share your knowledge!

*BOOK CLUB* Do you have a favorite gardening book and want to start a monthly book club? Lets get it set up!

*SEED LIBRARY* Let's build food resiliency by creating a seed library of seeds grown locally and adapted to growing conditions here. By doing this we can grow more, and grow better!

*SEEDS SWAPS/BULK SEED BUYING* Have lots of seeds to share? We can create events where we can exchange seeds/seedlings. We can also start buying seeds in bulk and sharing the savings with all group members.

These ideas are just the tip of the iceberg, and I think we can do a lot with a gardening club... But this will only work if you join me! Have other ideas/thoughts? Please get in touch! Let's get growing!

"Trying to have an organic garden, but it is hard when you know so little about plants and soil in general. More interested in edible gardening, vegetables, fruits, etc. Try to take care of my plants as well as I can but definitely need help."
