GrAndroid Chapter 7: ChatBots
Details
Where are all the chatbots? Until very recently, chatbots were hailed as the death of apps, natural-language interactions as the interface of the (very near) future and natural-language toolkits sprouted like mushrooms. The question is: where are all the chatbots in 2018?In this talk we will see a bit of the history of dialogue systems, what makes automating dialogue hard and cover the most common frameworks and methods to do so. Now that the dust is starting to settle after the last years of hype, there are a few breakthroughs that have been made in data-collection, methods and user acceptance. After mentioning those we will have a open discussion about the possibilities in the future.
Bio: Matthias Galle is a Senior Scientist and Manager of the NLP team at Naver Labs Europe. His interest lies in developing sequential combinatorial and statistical models for the processing and understanding of text. Whenever there is an interesting data-set, he likes exploring it and see what that data tell us about humans and the world. Matthias holds a PhD of INRIA (awarded by the AFIA), and a master degree in theoretical computer science from the University of Córdoba, Argentina.
Bonus: There will also be a small intervention by Romauld Josien of NVIDIA to illustrate on their initiatives on Deep Learning in the region.
And of course an apero kindly sponsored by Naver Labs :)
Update: Sincere request to all people who have put in a +1 with them to provide names of their guests. Naver will be making a guest list with badges and they would also need to know in advance. The cutoff date for the registration is thus the 30th of April, after which it will not be possible to register (to allow time for the processing of the guest list).
