Due to a late cancellation there are now 2 spaces on this very popular course. Get in touch soon if you are interested.

Join other like minded people on a 2 day course learning the hard and soft skills needed to lead expeditions and work in the the expedition industry. This IOL approved CPD training course is designed to be a launch pad. We hope that by the end of the weekend you'll have gained new skills but you will also be more informed about what you should do next.

Cost: £185 (plus camping at £10pppn)

We're expecting that most of you will be active in the outdoors (either professionally or personally) however no particular experience is necessary.

This is who the course is designed for:

People who want to lead their own expeditions or overseas fieldwork projects (professionally or personally)
Leaders who have worked in the outdoors (eg military or outdoor education) and want to move across into expedition work
People who have participated in an expedition as a team member and are interested in getting to the next stage
Anyone who wants to develop their expedition skills
The major areas the course will cover will be:

Expedition planning
Expedition leadership
Working in the expedition industry
Connecting to sponsors and the media
Meeting others in your position
The course looks at the logistics of organising and leading an expedition and follows the stages through from planning on paper to applying this paperwork actively in the field. We will look at the main documents which will form a central part of any expedition plan such as the Risk Assessment and the Crisis Management Plan. We will also look at other planning such as food and kit provisioning. And through extended scenarios we will learn about dynamic safety management in the field.

We use scenario based exercises and practical exercises to look at the soft skills which are vital in leading and organising expeditions. Assessing styles of leadership and their appropriateness to different types of expedition.

We'll also look at opportunities in the expedition sector and structures for qualifications and training.

During the weekend we will be joined by experienced expedition leaders who will share their knowledge culminating with a presentation on Saturday night by a special guest. The main instructor has been leading expeditions and teaching expedition skills for more than 15years.

We will all be staying together so there will also be plenty of opportunity for informal networking and discussion.

If you're keen to join the course, drop me an email on belinda@explorersconnect.com Initial interest has already been extremely high so please book early to avoid disappointment. There is a maximum of 12 places available on the course
