Details

We will hold this quarter's meeting at Manatee Community Foundation. Join us to learn more about GIS, how your colleagues apply the science of where, and to build new acquaintances.

We will be having one presentation (information below) and encourage you to stay afterward to socialize.

Mark Murphy - 2019 Geospatial Maturity Assessment

Results of Manatee County’s first attempt to conduct a comprehensive self-assessment using URISA’s GIS Capability Maturity Model. The self-assessment looks at the people, data, processes, policy, technology and legal aspects of an organizations geospatial capabilities.

Mark graduated from the University of South Florida with a undergraduate degree in Geography in 1996. Later that same year Mark, who was already employed with Manatee County, accepted a GIS internship with the Planning department. This opportunity eventually led to a full time position with Manatee County’s IT/GIS group in 1997. Mark worked through the GIS ranks until about 2001 at which time Mark left GIS to pursue database programming and web development with the Applications and Development team also within Manatee County’s IT Department. Mark returned to GIS in 2006 accepting a potion as the Supervisor of Manatee County’s IT/GIS group and currently still holds that position.
