What we're about
Taken from the Guys Read website (guysread.com):
"...Guys Read (http://guysread.com/)...[is] a...literacy program for boys founded by author and First National Ambassador of Young People’s Literature Jon Scieszka (http://jsworldwide.com/). Our mission is to help boys become self-motivated, lifelong readers."
This field office of Guys Read (http://guysread.com/), located in Houston, TX, meets for one hour each Wednesday evening, and we talk about what we are reading, make recommendations and trade books. Our meetings are informal gatherings of guys that like to read.
Males of all ages are welcome. Any children (under the age of 18) present at a Meetup must be supervised by a parent or guardian.
We meet on Wednesdays from 6:30pm to 7:30pm at different locations. Please check a specific meetup's details for the location.
There will never be any membership dues, but we accept donations from individuals and organizations. We accept donations in monetary form and in the form of books. Money donated will go towards Meetup hosting costs. Books donated will be lent out to members.
While the members of this meetup are primarily male, females are welcome.
