Welcome to the ground floor of our new Meetup! Do you like building things? Supporting the community? Making new friends to volunteer or have a beer with? Learning new skills? Any or all of the above? Then this group is for you!
Austin Habitat for Humanity Young Professionals (HYP) is a group of fun, ambitious, energetic and diverse young professionals (post-college to 40ish) who actively support Austin Habitat for Humanity.
Whether you're in engineering, marketing, medicine, law, education, building/construction, small business owner, etc. you're in the right place!
Habitat Young Professionals has come together as an official volunteer-led part of Austin Habitat for Humanity; an organization dedicated to "building affordable, quality houses with families in need to eliminate poverty housing, one family at a time."
Austin Habitat for Humanity Young Professionals (HYP) Board meets every other month to plan volunteer events, fundraising, and advocacy for Austin Habitat for Humanity. All board meetings are open to HYP Board members, HYP members, and prospective members.
We still have open positions on the board for 2019:
Have you ever wanted to swing a hammer, network with peers, and work on professional development - all while making a difference in your community? Well this is your chance - join us for the first HYP Build Day of 2019.
This is an exclusive event only for HYP members and prospective members, so you will have the opportunity to network with like-minded individuals while building a house for a family in need of a hand-up, not a hand-out.
Please sign up at: https://austinhabitat.volunteerhub.com/lp/hyp?scrollToDate=3%2F30%2F2019&bookmarkEventId=7815371#eid[masked]
We hope to see you there!
🆅 🅾 🅻 🆄 🅽 🆃 🅴 🅴 🆁:
Generally volunteers are utilized to help receive donations, set up displays, organize/assemble product, help with pricing, and more!
"Donations arrive daily and inventory changes rapidly. We accept donations of new and used building materials, furniture, appliances and fixtures in working condition from remodeling jobs, business closeouts, contractors and builders, and garage sales. All revenue made from sales directly support Habitat's homeownership programs." 87% of the store proceeds go towards Austin Habitat for Humanity.
