We're excited to announce that we'll be having a December Hack Things meetup! For this one, it'll be more towards evening and we'll have drinks and appetizers. As usual, you can expect a great lineup of speakers and fantastic networking.

Shout out to Highway1 (http://highway1.io/), which is sponsoring the food an drink!

We'll post additional information about the event soon (venue will be in downtown Seattle, but is still being finalized), but wanted to post this now so you can plan ahead. Here's the preliminary agenda:

5:30: Lunch and open conversations
5:48: Welcome
5:50: Jaclyn Konzelmann, Amulyte (http://www.amulyte.com/)
6:00: Aaron Parks, Ambient Backscatter (http://www.geekwire.com/2013/uw-madrona-prize/) (battery-free devices!)
6:10: Brady Forrest, Highway1 (http://highway1.io/)
6:20: Show and tell
6:35: Wrap up and open conversations
7:00: Venue closes

The "show and tell" part of the agenda is a chance for you, as part of the community, to get up and share what you're working on.

Speaker Bios

Jaclyn Konzelmann: Jaclyn is a Co-Founder of Amulyte (http://www.amulyte.com), a company developing a mobile emergency response system for seniors. Amulyte was part of the summer 2013 Y Combinator batch, and was selected as one of TechCrunch's Top 8 Picks (http://techcrunch.com/2013/08/20/y-combinator-demo-day-summer-2013/). Jaclyn holds a degree in Mechatronics Engineering from the University of Waterloo, and spent 2 years as a PM at Microsoft prior to starting Amulyte.

Aaron Parks: Aaron is a graduate student working with the Sensor Systems lab (http://sensor.cs.washington.edu/) at the University of Washington. His recent work has focused on developing "zero-power" computing and communication devices which make use of radio energy harvesting, and on the exploration of unconventional wireless communication techniques. (You can find the academic paper here (http://homes.cs.washington.edu/~gshyam/Papers/amb.pdf)).

Brady Forrest: Brady runs Highway1 (http://highway1.io), PCH's Hardware Incubator, and is on the lookout for the next great piece of hardware. He co-started and "shepherded" Ignite; he's part of the team currently organizing Ignite SF. He's a Venture Advisor to 500 Startups and spent some time on the Investment Staff at Khosla Ventures. Formerly he was at O'Reilly and worked on a number of things including: the radar blog, Web 2.0 Expo, Where 2.0, ETech, and Foo Camp.

You: Have a great prototype or product to share? Bring it with you and nab up to 2 minutes on the mic for show and tell. There will be plenty of time after we wrap up to catch up with the people behind projects you find particularly interesting.
