From our hosts and speakers:

A talk about nothing

Vacuum is a required ingredient for many interesting projects, such as making great 3D printers with electron beam melting, mass spectrometry to analyze unknown chemicals, quantum physics demonstrations (yes, you can make those at home), and building your own triodes or Nixie tubes. But when considering the creation of a vacuum, many people are taken aback and deterred by the cost and complexity. This presentation will tell our stories of building low-cost vacuum systems in Hong Kong, and demystify their construction. And while vacuum technology is certainly not trivial, we will show that it is perfectly accessible to someone with a bit of dedication, the right information, and less money than what the Hong Kong real estate system milks from you over a few months.

M-Labs is graciously providing free beer to compliment their free-as-in-speech talk.

From the organizer:

This is the second Hackaday Meetup in HK, which will be a series of events at different locations to explore both the spaces and people that are hacking and making in our city. If you have ideas for the next meetup, please email jon.buford@gmail.com or message the organizers of the meetup through Meetup.com. I hope to see you out at this meetup!
