Arduino Class - Using a Real Time Clock

Details

In this class, you will learn how to use a typical real time clock with your Arduino. We will be using the DFRobot DS1307 RTC breakout (http://amzn.to/2fOdoIr). This device, like many others, is based on the popular DS1307 clock IC, and it can do anything you would expect a good clock can do. It counts seconds, minutes, hours, days, years, goes up to 2100 and compensates for leap years. In the first part, you will learn how to connect the RTC module to the Arduino, set the time, and read the time from it. In the second, you will learn how to time-stamp sensor readings and store them in an SD card. Modules:

Real time clock, Part 1 of 2 (http://bit.ly/2gMjAMM) (15:45) In this lecture you will learn how to connect the RTC module to the Arduino, set the time, and read the time from it. In Lecture part 2, I show how to time-stamp sensor readings and store them in an SD card.

Real time clock, Part 2 of 2 (http://bit.ly/2gWhdtP) (7:44) In this lecture you will learn how to time-stamp sensor readings and store them in an SD card. Parts Needed:

Arduino UNO (http://amzn.to/2guHM9Z) DFRobot DS1307 RTC breakout (http://amzn.to/2fOdoIr) Course work for this class comes from Arduino Step By Step (http://goo.gl/5Uv71ft) which has over 20 hours of content in 110 lectures. These classes are designed for anyone interested in learning electronic design and C programming. No experience is required. Access to the course material is free at our meetups. If you wish to access the material outside the meetup see our coupons page to get a discount from our sponsor (http://www.hackerspacetech.com/pages/coupons.html).
