PoketDok and Patient Empowerment

With the rise of mobile devices and wearable technologies, one of the most interesting emerging topics is patient empowerment facilitated through our connected devices. In this meetup we'll hear from PocketDoc.
PocketDok is built around a vision that people can get medical advice anytime, anywhere and regardless of their insurance model. PocketDok is a web-and app-based medical expert system which recognizes minor ailments and can distinguish between small issues and serious illnesses. Users can reliably decide whether they can treat themselves or get in touch with a doctor or hospital. In the case of minor ailments the system present therapy recommendations and allows the user to evaluate their healing process. PocketDok seeks to be the first to have real patient empowerment of the user in one of the most important areas of life, their health, and simultaneously reduce the cost to the patient and the healthcare system. The system makes a significant contribution to patient empowerment by supporting the self-determination of sick people. This also relieves medical institutions from expenses related to minor health problems, which increases their capacity to treat more serious illnesses and results in health cost savings.
