Join us on Tuesday, July 16 for a look at how data melds with art. We’ll feature two women leveraging data to create beautiful and compelling art: Laurie Frick and Lauren Malkani.
If you’ve driven a car in Austin, you’ve probably seen Laurie Frick’s work. She’s the artist behind the underpass at Lamar and 5th Street that translates data from Instagram photos of Austin landmarks into a large-scale visualization. Her 500-foot installation scratches the surface of Laurie’s data-based visual work, which includes installations at galleries, public spaces and corporations around the country. See more of her work: lauriefrick.com.
Lauren Malkani is co-founder of Seven Mile Media. With Nick Harbaugh, she creates mission-driven digital projects that focus on environmental and human rights issues. While based in Austin, Lauren recently earned her MFA from Parsons’ Design and Technology program. Check out her work: instagram.com/laurenmalkani/ & sevenmilemedia.com.
Free light food and drinks are provided.
