Getting started with Git!

Details

• What we'll do
Join Hacks/Hackers DC for a hands-on introduction workshop on Git! Bring your laptop and learn with fellow members about the basics of setting up a repo, common Git commands, and how to use Git via tools like GitHub Desktop and native command line. We will end the event by showing you how with Git, you can publish a free website using GitHub Pages (https://pages.github.com). We will meet at the Washington bureau of Capital News Service (http://cnsmaryland.org/), a news organization run by our co-sponsor the University of Maryland Philip Merrill College of Journalism (https://merrill.umd.edu/). The bureau is located on the Concourse Level of the Ronald Reagan Building. Prior to the event we ask that everyone to create a free GitHub account advance (https://github.com).
