Get into the nitty-gritty of VR and 360 video with McClatchy's leading video innovators. This is a place to dig into how some of the country's best VR storytellers make their work — from planning to software to stitching to publication. You'll get time to ask your technical questions and insight on what's next in the field.
Ben Connors:
Ben is the Lead for Emerging Video Products at McClatchy. In this role, he guides a small unit focused on experimentation, special projects & product development in fields like VR, AR & Interactive Documentary.
His past endeavors include serving as an executive producer during the development of AJ+, teaching 360° VR video production for SideXSide Studios, helping The Washington Post launch PostTV, creating the Webby award-winning interactive talk-show 'The Stream' for Al Jazeera English, and working as a video editor and producer for Al Jazeera English and The Washington Post. On the side, Ben serves as CEO of the 'Last Graph,' a social action platform for storytellers and their audiences. Started in 2014 with a Grant from the Knight Foundation, the Last Graph provides content creators with a tool to generate embeddable and interactive calls to action. It also provides readers with a dashboard for charting their social and environmental impact.
He likes riding a bike, drinking craft beer and reading science fiction.
Meghan Sims:
Meghan leads the technical efforts of the national video team, works with McClatchy newsrooms on equipment and systems, analyzes video traffic and helps maintain the video platform. Meghan comes from The Washington Post, where she built the Post’s video infrastructure and was part of the leadership team that launched PostTV. She’s also a fantasy sports enthusiast and movie aficionado.
