From Facebook 360 to Google Cardboard to the Oculus Rift, virtual reality is slowly spreading its way into journalism and media. This month, Fusion journalist Clàudia Prat and USC "hackademic" Robert Hernandez (https://twitter.com/webjournalist) will show us how to use some brand new VR technology, based on just smartphones and earbuds.
Whether you're local or in town for #EIJ16 (http://excellenceinjournalism.org/schedule/), come try out 360-degree cameras, smartphones that turn into VR glasses, microphones that record like ears, journalists building stories with video game softwares, and more!
We'll be down the street from EIJ at the Swizzle Stick Bar (http://www.nola.com/bar-guide/index.ssf/2008/07/swizzle_stick_bar.html), which is famous for its hors d'oeuvres. Happy hour (http://www.cafeadelaide.com/happier-hour.html) goes til 6!
Make sure you have the latest YouTube mobile app downloaded, and bring a pair of headphones.
