Coffee hour with the Big Easy Budget Game

Every Thursday at 10am, the Blue House hosts "Fika," a weekly coffee and conversation hour. This week, Hacks/Hackers and the Blue House will be featuring the Committee for a Better New Orleans (CBNO) and playing the Big Easy Budget Game.

How would you spend New Orleans's money if you were the mayor? How could the city could do better? The Big Easy Budget Game is an interactive civic tech project that asks New Orleanians to take a stab at balancing their city budget. Have you ever wondered where the city's money comes from? Or where it goes? Weigh in with your priorities for 2019.

Kelsey Foster developed the People's Budget Program at the CBNO, aimed at demystifying the city's budget process. Previously, Foster worked as a journalist at The Lens, the Virgin Islands News Online, and as a freelance multimedia reporter for the Boston Globe.
